Hearn and Rose Marie Rass. By 1949, James had moved to Detroit, Michigan. There, he married Mariko Tsutsui on September 2, 1949. She was the daughter of Genji and Shigeki Tsutsui. She and her family had been evacuated from their home in San Joaquin County California, and interned in 1942 at Rohwer WRA Camp
