Mrs. Ida Kim, assistant to Miss Ivelle O’Donnell, social Hostess of Service Club 5, is an extremely modest, but very efficient person. She will not talk about herself and does not like publicity but she is one of the busiest people around Camp Shelby. When she was asked what her hobby is she exclaimed
Sgt. Francis Nataline, formerly with Sammy Kaye, directed. Sgt. Hitoshi Kanemitsu, Service Co., 442nd Inf. was master of ceremonies for the brief but enjoyable intermission program. Miss Ivelle O’Donnell, director of the club, and Cpl. Walter Semon, supervisor of the club, both warmly welcomed everyone. Sgt. Kanemitsu next presented Pvt. Harry Hamada and his Shelby
cake and said a few words about the origin and function of the Fri-Sun Club. Pvt. Harry Hamada and his Shelby Hawaiians played several selections; then everyone enjoyed cake, cold watermelon, coke, and salted nuts. As a guest of honor, Miss Ivelle O’Donnell, principal hostess of Service Club 5 cut the first slice of cake.
