Hideo Nakayama was born February 2, 1922 and grew up in the Moanalua area, graduating from Farrington High School in 1940. He joined the Army on March 25, 1943 and was assigned to the 442nd Regimental Combat Team. After training at Camp Shelby, he deployed to Europe as a member of Company L.
After the war, he went on to own Kuhio Florist in Waikiki. He is survived by his son Rodney (Jill), daughter Lynn Reiko (Louis Stelter), grand- daughter Kayla (Jesse Maeda), grandson Reed (Kirsten) and sister Martha Tsuruye Nakamura.
