Pacific Aviation Museum Event

Honolulu, Hawaii- Veterans, family and friends gathered at the Pacific Aviation Museum on Ford Island for a day of fun and education. The event was sponored by the 442 Sons & daughters and was held on Saturday, July 14, 2012. Approximately 100 people attended. The group participated in specially arranged tours of the museum organized by Laughlin Tanaka, who works as a curator at the museum. The event also included lunch, a brief program and gifts for everyone. Congratulations to the 442 SD PAM Committee on a job well done! Everyone enjoyed to event. In addition to Laughlin, other committee members include: Gail Nishimura, Debbie & Mark Oshiro, Shirley Igarashi, Karen Kikukawa, Karlton Tomomitsu and Irvin Yoshino. The annual 442nd Sons & Daughters Family Christmas Party was held on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the 100th Infantry Battalion Clubhouse with the attendance of a little over 100 individuals. It was an event filled with merriment and memories for all. We were honored by the presence of three 442nd RCT veterans – Kenji Ego, Robert Kishinami, and Richard Nomura. Ann Kabasawa continues to amaze everyone with her organizational skills in chairing this event for the past few decades. Fighting Two Wars AJA Veterans Tribute

By Gail Nishimura, S&D It was a very interesting afternoon.  To see and talk to many veterans and their families was really something that I will remember for a long time. There were so many people who came out to honor the veterans and the slide show that was playing in the background was an additional highlight.  It was nice to see my uncle’s picture when it popped up.  Most of the veterans posed for the official picture, I think this was a big challenge for the photographers.  But the photo came out really nice! The mistress of ceremonies, Leslie Wilcox, kept the program moving smoothly. Sons & Daughters members march in 2016 Veterans Day Parade On November 11, 2016 a group of Sons & Daughters of the 442nd RCT members and others community members marched with a group of descendants from the 100th Infantry Battalion Veterans (Rural Chapter) in the annual Veterans Day Parade in Wahiawa. Friday, November 11, 2016 was a bright and sunny day, resulting in our umbrellas being unnecessary and left in our cars. Sun screen, hats and dark glasses were more in order for the day. About a dozen members of the Sons and Daughters chapter walked in the annual Veterans Day parade up California Avenue, the main drag in the former plantation town of Wahiawa. Sneak Preview of the Go For Broke, A 442 Origins Story movie, Hawai’i Theater, October 8, 2017 By Gail Nishimura and Jon Ishihara “442nd RCT Foundation Presents a Stacey Hayashi Production” was on the printed program for this special event to provide a preview of this movie long in the making on the 442nd RCT. In attendance at the Hawai’I Theatre in Honolulu were some 442nd veterans, many 100th/442nd family members and distinguished guests. The movie preview was attended by approximately 1400 people. Opening the event was a group of dancers from Okinawa and Hawaii, with a lively presentation. Thank you from the 442nd Regimental Combat Team 75th Anniversary Banquet planning committee Contributed by S&D member Mae Isonaga (and 442nd Legacy Center director) Mahalo to the Sons and Daughters of the 442nd Regimental Combat Team (S&D) for helping make the 442nd RCT’s 75th Anniversary Banquet, “Remembering – With Pride and Gratitude”, a success.  The monetary support and the hours of hard work by the S&D are greatly appreciated by the Banquet Committee.  The monetary donation helped pay registration and parking fees for veterans and their wives and for widows of veterans.  There were 47 veterans registered and 50 wives and widows.  Close to 600 people attended the March 18th, 2018 banquet at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. Harris, Jr. and his wife Bruni Bradley.
